REGULAR MEETING

JUNE 12, 2006

Others:  Chuck Fox, Andy Ross, Jerry Drost, Janice Drost, Ed Petter, Tim Roach, Steve Basch, Jan Olach, Tom Mann and Donna Heeres.

Meeting called to order by Campbell at 7:05 p.m.

1         Motion by Olach/Skeel to accept the May 2006 minutes as presented. CARRIED.

Public Input: Janice Drost read a letter to the council in which she expressed the desire to have the Ellsworth Village Welcome Sign retuned to the Rasmussen lot; it was also the feeling of Jerry Drost and Chuck Fox and other members of the audiences; discussion followed.

Departmental Reports:

Planning Commission:  Updating of Master Plan: The Master Plan is presently at M C Planning and Design for updating.

Police: Pig Roast Parade route was finalized for June 17th   

Streets: Street Abandonment:  2.   See attachment; Hearing to be held July10, 2006 at 7:00 pm at Banks Township Hall

 DPW: Steve Basch from Basch and Son Construction and Tim Roach from Gosling Czubak went over bid tabulation errors for the water system projects.  Council to meet Thursday June 22, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. to approve the bid for the Main St. Water Extension and Water Service Replacement and Main Plug.

 

3.     Motion by Olach/Boss to summit delinquent water bills to the county to be placed as liens on the summer tax bills ($ 3,991.57). CARRIED  6-0.

 

Action Items:

Donation to Pig Roast: 

4. Motion by Skeel/Olach to contribute $150.00 for the Band for the parade and up to $50 for prizes for the parade. CARRIED.

 

5. Motion by Skeel/Ruis to buy Pig Roast meals for the band after the parade at a cost of $210.00.  CARRIED.

 

6. Motion by Ruis/Olach to approve the following Planning Commission appointments: Al Veenstra, March 2007, Al Drenth March 2007, Larry Essenberg March 2007, Vince Olach March 2007, Jerry Klooster March 2009 and Brian Certa March 2009. CARRIED.

 

7.  Motion by Olach/Boss to earmark Banks Township Grant of $8000.00 (for 5 Years),

Communications Tower Lease, $7000.00, and 10% of revenue from the communication tower towards the Main St. reconstruction project. CARRIED.

 

8. Motion by Skeel/Boss to have Andy RossŐs withholding changed from a 1099 to a W2. CARRIED.

9.  Motion by Olach/Skeel to hire Jessica Marsh as the new Village Zoning Administrator. CARRIED.

 

Discussion:

a.  Ellsworth River Park Sign: Campbell to get price for the sign for the July Council meeting.

b.  Hi-speed internet is at the Wooden Shoe Park.

c.  Grand Opening of the Charlevoix State Bank will be June 17th during the Pig Roast.

d.  Business District Signs, a sample was shown to council.

e.  Tex to inventory the tree of poor health that might have to be cut down.

 

9. Motion by Ruis/Olach to pay the bills. CARRIED

 

10  Motion by Ruis/Skeel to adjourn. 8:50
