VILLAGE OF ELLSWORTH

REGULAR MEETING

JUNE 11, 2007

BANKS TOWNSHIP HALL

 

 Present: Olach, BJ Peters, M. Drenth, Boss, Campbell and Vollmer

Absent:  Skeel, M. Peters

Others:  Janice Drost and Robert Daunter

Meeting called to order by Campbell at 7:05 p.m.

 

1         Motion by Boss/Olach to accept the May 2007 minutes as presented. CARRIED.

 

Public Input:

Janice Drost: Janice would also like the curb completed in front of her home at the corner of Elm and Main Street. T. Drenth and Campbell to take care it.

Police:

Officer Daunter gave police report to the council.  Daunter also informed council that the new police radio is installed in the police car. The County has incurred the cost of the radio this year and next year the cost will be incurred by the village up to $400.00.

There will be 4 police officers in the village Saturday for the Pig Roast.

 

2.  Motion by Vollmer/Olach to hire Police Office Trisha Pratt as a part time officer for the Village. CARRIED.5-YES / 0- NO

 

DPW:

Streets:

Main Street Project will be completed Friday weather permitting.

New Street lamps to be installed the first of July.

Planning Commission:

The new Master Plan update had been presented to council.

 

3.   Motion by Boss/Vollmer for the Planning Commission to move forward with the next step of the updating of the Master Plan. CARRIED 5-YES/ 0-NO

 

Discussion:

a.  Joint meeting with the Township: M32 Extension Project, push to have C48 completed as a class A road from East Jordan to Atwood (US 31, and many others topics were the discussed.  Promoting the route from East Jordan to Atwood (US 31) with signage, etc. Village and Township updated the participants on what was happening in the Township and the Village. It turned out to be a good and productive meeting.

b.  Wireless High Speed Internet will be available soon at the Wooden Shoe Park

c.  Campbell informed the council that the Ellsworth Farmers Ex. will be requesting that an Industrial Development District (IDD) be set up for their property in the Village.

Campbell also mentioned the possibility  of setting up a redevelopment district for businesses wishing to remodel.

 

Action Items:

4.   Motion by BJ Peters/Olach to have Alex Busman install the wireless internet service at the Wooden Shoe Park at the cost of $100.00. CARRIED 5-YES/ 0 – NO

 

5.  Motion by Olach/Boss to summit delinquent water bills to the county to be placed as liens on the summer tax bills ($ 4,772.45). CARRIED    5-YES/ 0 - NO.

 

6.  Motion by BJ Peters/Vollmer to pay the bills. CARRIED    5- YES/ 0- No

 

7.  Motion to adjourn by BJ Peters/Boss. CARRIED    7:50 p.m.
