Meeting called to order by Chairman Campbell at 7:00 p.m.

VILLAGE OF ELLSWORTH COUNCIL MINUTES

REGULAR MEETING

MAY 14, 2007

 

Present: Campbell, Boss, Bj Peters, M. Peters, Skeel, Olach, and M. Drenth.

Absent:

Others:   Janice Drost, Jan Olach, Robert Daunter, Thomas Mann, Chuck Fox, Ethan Fox and Jerry Rasmussen.

 

Meeting called to order by President Campbell at 7:05 p.m.

 

1.   Motion by BJ Peters/Olach to accept the April 2007 minutes as presented.  

CARRIED / 6-0

2.   Motion by Olach/M. Peters to accept the April 22, 2006\7 Special meeting as presented

CARRIED / 6-0

 

Public:

Janice Drost: Would like the Christmas light taken down on the tree in front of the Township Hall. 

Chuck Fox:  Fireworks display will be July 3rd on Lake St. Clair by RKM Fireworks Co. / St. Evans Inc.  13421 McKinley Hwy, Mishawaka, Ind. 46545.

Mr. Fox is asking for a contribution from the Village which will be decided at the June Council meeting.                              

Tom Mann:  Proposed a joint meeting between the Banks Township Board and the Ellsworth Village Trustees to share plans and ideas for future projects and team building among the municipal governing bodies.  Meeting to be held May 29th at 7:00 p.m. with May 31st set for a back up date.

 

Action Items:

3.   Motion by Olach/Boss to approve the ZBA appointment as presented by the ZBA.   CARRIED  6-0

 

       Jan Olach:  Pig Roast contributions.

4.   Motion by Campbell/Skeel that the village make a $250.00 contribution to the Pig Roast. CARRIED 6-0

A Pig Roast Parade route was discussed with the village police office Robert Daunter.

 

Police: Trish Pratt wants to apply as a part time police officer for the Village of Ellsworth. To be discussed and voted on the June meeting.

Planning Commission:   Council to receive a copy of the revised Master Plan at the June meeting.

 

5.   Motion by Vollmer/Olach to appoint Andrew Veenstra as the Village of Ellsworth Zoning Administrator.  CARRIED   6-0

Wages for the first nine and one half (9 ½) will be $90.00 and $100.00 the second year.

 

6.   Motion by Olach/Vollmer to have Larry Essenberg, Al Veenstra and Al Drenth remain on the Planning Commission for another term of 2 yrs (2009).  CARRIED 6-0

Discussion Items

2006-2007 Village audit is scheduled May 30th and 31st.

Main St. Reconstruction, Payne and Dolan to restart the project May 21 and should be done by June 1.

The Wooden Shoe Park will open tomorrow May 15th.

Ellsworth Community Park Project: Project is on hold until the state legislature passes a budget.

 

7.  Motion by Vollmer/Skeel to pay the bills. CARRIED  6-0

 

8.   Motion by Skeel BJ Peters to adjourn.   8:00 p.m.
