VILLAGE OF ELLSWORTH COUNCIL MINUTES

REGULAR MEETING

MARCH 10, 2008

BANKS TOWNSHIP HALL

 

Present:  Olach, Skeel, Seese, Rasmussen, Vollmer and M. Drenth.                                                                            Absent:  Campbell and Boss.

Others: Robert Daunter, Tex Drenth, Chet Drenth and Linda Gallagher from the Antrim Review.

Meeting called to order by Trustee Rasmussen at 7:00 p.m.

 

1         Motion by Olach /Skeel to accept the February 2008 minutes as presented.    CARRIED. 5-0

2.   Motion by Olach/Vollmer for Office Daunter to purchase a 2 drawer filing cabinet with a lock.  CARRIED    5-0

D.P.W.

 

Tex Drenth -The radiator on the plow truck is leaking and needs to be replaced.  ZarembaÕs in Gaylord can replace it in a day so the truck will not be with out the Village for an extended period of time.

3.  Motion by Olach/Skeel to have the radiator replaced by Zaremba in Gaylord.  CARRIED   5-0

 

Planning Commission: Meeting to be held Thursday.

 

Action Items:

Great Lakes People Fund:

4.   Moved by  Skeel seconded by Olach That the Village of Ellsworth apply for a Great Lakes Energy Fund Grant in the amount of $4000 to assist the village with their portion of the Natural Resource Trust Fund Grant for the purchase and installation of the playground area equipment for the Ellsworth Community Park Enhancement Project.   CARRIED   5-0

 

Street Lamps: The feeling of the Council and the talk about town and the police department is that the three (high) street lights should be turned back on.

 

5.  Motion by Rasmussen/Vollmer to approve the Lease Addendum between the State of Michigan, as Lessor and The Village of Ellsworth, as Lessee. (DNR fishing site on Lake St.)

The lease is for 20 years initial term and this Lease may be extended for an additional (1) 5 year term, or such terms shall be agreed to between the parties. CARRIED    5-0

6.   Motion by Vollmer/Seese to approve paying the Consumer EnergyÕs Electric bill twice a month to avoid paying late fees.  CARRIED   5-0

 

Discussion:

 

The Summer Recreation Director will be Andy Ross again this year.

A brief update on the Community Park was given.

 

7.   Motion by Olach/Skeel to pay the bills as presented. CARRIED   5-0

 

8.   Motion to adjourn by Skeel /Seese.   7:50 p.m.
