VILLAGE OF ELLSWORTH COUNCIL MINUTES

REGULAR MEETING

OCTOBER 12, 2009

BANKS TOWNSHIP HALL

 

Present: Campbell, M. Drenth, Boss, Olach, Rasmussen, Vollmer, Stewart and M.B. Drenth.           

Absent:  None

Others: Jan Kellogg, Robert Daunter and Linda Gallagher.

 

Meeting called to order by President Campbell at 7:00 p.m.

1.   Motion by Olach/Rasmussen to accept the September 2009 minutes as presented. CARRIED.  7-0

2.   Motion by Olach/Rasmussen to accept the Special Meeting minutes of September 22, 2009 as presented.  CARRIED 7-0                                                      

3.   Motion by Olach/ Stewart to accept the Special Meeting minutes of September 24, 2009 as presented.  CARRIED.  7-0

 

Public Input:

Jan Kellogg from the Northern Lakes Economic Alliance (NLEA) on the possibility of a Downtown Development Authorities (DDA) for Banks Township and the Village of Ellsworth and how it would work and the advantages of having one.

Action Items

 

4.  Motion by Olach/Boss to have the 2010 rates and fees for Wooden Shoe Park remain the same as last year.  CARRIED 7-0

 

5. Motion by Rasmussen/Boss  the Wooden Shoe Park attendants for the 2010 camping season remain Ed and Kris Green. CARRIED 7-0

 

6. Motion by Olach/Vollmer to set the Halloween Hours from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. October 31, 2009. CARRIED 7-0

 

7.  Motion by Boss/Stewart to approve Drenth Brothers to do snow removal for the uptown area.

  The rates will remain the same as last year.  CARRIED 7-0

 

Planning Commission:

 8.  Motion by Campbell/M.B. Drenth to reduce the Planning Commission members from 7 to 5 members.  CARRIED. 7-0

 

Discussion Items:

a.   Community Park Update:   The Park is complete.

b.   Green races on the lakes next summer from Six mile through the Chain of Lake and on to Elk Rapids.

c.   The recycling bens are in place and operating on Lake Street beside the Sports Park.

d.   County ORV Ordinance

e.   Sale of Property to Ellsworth Farmers Exchange:  The village has received an offer by the Ellsworth Farmers Exchange               to purchase some property from the village (old RR) adjacent to their southern boundary on Lake St.  A purchase agreement is being looked into.

g. Tree removal:  There are 6 trees to be removed in the Village, the village has 2 estimates and is waiting on a third.

 

9. Motion Olach/Boss to pay the bills. CARRIED.7-0
